Kiln Dried and ready for use!
Outrageously variegated and colored! This wood is found in the equatorial forests of West Africa. Easy to work and takes a nice polish too.
With a 3/4 top wood, the finished size will be a hair slimmer than a Strat but thicker than an SG. You can also use a veneer in between this and the top wood you choose for contrast and to bring it up to a full 1.75 inches. There are so many options.
Limba / Korina
The Holy Grail of Tonewoods! The grain pattern and tone is similar to Mahogany, although it is not quite as dense. It was the original wood used for many classic Gibson guitars such as the original Explorer and Flying V. It has all the good tonal properties of mahogany, but is more responsive with a sweeter sounding midrange. There are two variants of Limba (Korina), white and black. Black Limba is a medium weight wood, which is olive in color with black streaking. White Limba is a medium to heavy weight wood. The color is a light yellow/green with brown and orange streaks.
This amazing wood actually changes names when cut for a guitar! Tree people call it Limba, wood people and lumber yards call it Limba, but when this is made into a guitar, they call it Korina…we may never know why.
